Sister Act

The Whoopi Goldberg classic comedy takes the stage from June 2009 at London Palladium on London’s West End. The stage production follows a successful showing in Pasadena, California during 2006. The performance at the London Palladium is intended to run until February 2010 and its success it highly anticipated. The comical show tells of a fiery young woman, Deloris Van Cartier, who is placed in the witness protection program after her boyfriend commits murder. Deloris is placed in a nunnery for safety. However, the club performer causes trouble in the nunnery and distress for the strict Mother Superior.

In an attempt to win over the nuns Deloris throws herself into updating the boring choir. She gives the choir a modern, hip hop update making the choir more appealing to the younger generation. The choir becomes highly successful and the nuns, including Deloris, find themselves becoming famous. The fame, however, brings attention to Deloris and making her whereabouts once again known to her dangerous boyfriend.

The stage performance keeps the plot similar to movie. However, the location has been updated in the stage performance. The destination has changed from Reno and San Francisco to Philadelphia in the 1970s. The stage performance is likely to gain the same attention that the movie did.
