Chicago

The award winning Chicago, the musical, includes prestigious awards such as the Laurence Olivier award of outstanding musical in 1998 in London and a Tony Award for the performances in New York’s Broadway.

The musical first took to stage in 1975 in New York but did not grace the stage of London’s West End until 1997 where it was based at Adelphi Theatre. It quickly became a massive success both in America and the UK which led to productions across the globe including Brazil, Canada, South Africa and Australia where the musical caused much of the same commotion. The musical is now considered a classic and was made into a film in 2002.

The Oscar winning movie starred famous actresses Rene Zellweger and Catherine Zeta Jones. The movie resulted in a surge of interest in the live musical and attracted various names such as Kelly Osbourne, Ashlee Simpson and David Hasselhoff as the cast for different productions. These stars are likely to have been attracted to the glamour that is associated with the musical as the female characters dazzle in cabaret dresses and men look classic and sharp in stylish suits. The musical has been drawing audiences for decades thanks to this powerful glamour!
